CONSUMPTION
- Watch the following videos below and then comment:
- Make a poster explaining the consequences of our consumption. Explain how products are produced in factories and how they are then discarded. In your poster you should answer:
- What are the raw materials needed?
- Where do we get these materials from?
- Where are the final products made?
- Who makes these products? What are their work conditions like?
- How are these products made? What are the consequences of this production for the environment?
- Which waste materials are left after using them?
- Prepare a survey to determine the products that are most consumed by the students in our school. To prepare the questionnaire you should consider the following groups:
- Food
- Clothing and footwear
- Technology
- Others
- The surveys must show the frequency of consumption and its sustainability; the type of waste generated and its destination, your awareness about ethical consumerism.
- Choose 8 of the products from your survey and then explain how these products are produced from factories and how they are then discarded (see Q2).
NOISE
- Summarise and comment on the following videos:
- Prepare a document and a presentation about the causes of noise pollution and their consequences for our health.
- Make a survey and ask students and teachers about their opinions on noise in our school and then evaluate whether or not they consider it a problem.
- Download an app for measuring the noise pollution (sound level metre).
- Using a map of the building, prepare a schedule to measure the noise at different places and times. With these measures colour the map to determine the different problems of noise pollution.
ENERGY AND POLLUTION
- Watch and comment on the following videos below:
- Do some research into air pollution and its effect on our health. Prepare a poster about the air quality in cities and its relationship with:
- public and private transport
- industry
- the way we generate energy
- Analyse the energy consumption in our school using a questionnaire to help you evaluate the following aspects:
- Energy consumption in class: lights, use of natural light, computers etc.
- Central heating
- The means of transport students and teachers use.

WASTE
1. Summarise and comment on the following documentary:
2. Prepare a document and a presentation about the importance and how it is processed for a better environment. You should consider:
- the types of waste
- where each type of waste goes
- its origin
- environmental and health problems
3. Prepare a questionnaire to conduct surveys to assess the following:
- Which types of waste are generated in our school?
- How are they managed?
- Students’ and teachers’ awareness with regards to this issue
You should develop a map that illustrates different waste containers available in our school.
WATER
1. Comment on the following video and newspaper article
2. Make a poster explaining the importance of water for ecosystems and for humans and its major threats: water pollution, access to drinking water, sea and fishery resources.
3. Examine the aquatic ecosystem. Evaluate the process of water pollution by measuring some physical and chemical parameters of water at different temperatures.

4. Design a questionnaire which studies the different points of view of students and teachers about the threats to aquatic ecosystems. The questionnaire should also study consumption habits in order to explore different ways to reduce consumption in our school.
